Sound, solid copy with the publisher's trade binding. Brown cloth spine with 4 horizontal rules in gilt; unlettered, as issued. Light general toning and light soiling to decorative title lettered boards. Short, mild scrapes to board edges; corners lightly bumped. A small gouge to the lower edge of the rear board. Missing the front free endpage, the book opens to the title page. Some foxing scattered in text; generally light but heavier to the first 10 or so leaves. Three or four pages with evidence of a folded corner. The first page of Davenport's Narrative has been corner creased with some stress and two short tears to the page tip. Overall a solid and neat copy in better condition than usually found of this important set of primary accounts of western actions in the war of 1812. The 4th edition, after the very scarce 1812, 1813 and 1834 edition. This example has a several page catalog of Lippincott Grambo titles appended at rear; paged 29 - 36. Howes D73; Sabin 18602. VG-.
