Book
Leather Bound. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Limited Edition. A cook book for all sorts of sea animals, as well as drinks appropriate for hunting expeditions. Limited edition reprint of 2500 unnumbered copies. L. P. (Louis Pullig) De Gouy (1876-1947) was the chef for New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel for 30 years. He was one of the premier chefs of his era, author of 16 cookbooks and one of the founders of "Gourmet Magazine" (now defunct, which operated 1941-2009). This cookbook was originally published as a limited edition (1250 copies) by Derrydale Press in 1937. Derrydale Press operated as a stand alone company from 1927 to 1942. It was known as the premier publishing house for quality sporting field and game books during the Great Depression Era. They published extremely high quality books in limited editions sold to wealthy patrons. The name is still in existence with books published today under that name. Collectors highly value those original Derrydale books. Hard cover with red leather(ette?) boards with gold embossed designs, lettering and page-edges. Interior is as new, tight, clean & unmarked. Front cover has 2 droplet stains. Copyright 1992 (most likely a renewal or reclamation of a 1937 copyright). No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR.
