Tan cover has green letters. 64 pages; green, black, and white illustrations; and a few also have brown or orange; content is about 20 animals; illustrated endpapers. The top end of the front board has stains; the remainder of the cover is less thus. The joints have four short splits that are tipped back together with glue. The front pastedown has a few, samll rubbed spots. The title page has a faint, ink stamp of an owner's name. DJ: The illustrations spans 3 panels; small chips and closed tears on the top and bottom edges; spine panel and flaps' folds have darkened a little; the top end of the front panel has a few, small, light stains; sparse, small stains on the remainder of the DJ. This was Dr. Ditmars last book before his death. Bottom 1/2" of spine repaired. Previous owner's gift inscription dated 1944 on verso of free front endpaper. Atouch of wear on bottom corner tips. Overall a very good, clean, tight, near fine copy. Dust jacket has small chip at bottom of spine and a few minor small chips and a little wear and creasing at top edge. 4to. bound in beige paper covered boards textured to look like cloth. 64 pp. replete with many illustrations. Beautiful pictorial endpapers.

INDEX at back. Cond : Boards are black with lettering similar. A Brontosaurus dominates the (pre-historic) menagerie in the cover. Pictorial end-papers. Issued w/o dust jacket (??). Tight in binding. No names. Light edge wear. Slightly soft fore points. Very minor scribbles on front cover. Beautifully preserved child's book - given the vintage. QUote (p. 54) : When droughts came on, sources of water were reduced. The seasonal rains only partly replenished the supply. All sources of water from preceding seasons were weakened.
