About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2010. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This is the author's sixth book and fourth collection of short stories dealing with Raven, Coyote and Spirit animal friends. There are fewer stories and they are longer in this volume. Whereas, the earlier tales could be simplistic, fabalistic, even moralistic, these latter records seem to show more individual character, more plot. There appears to be a greater influence of the Spirits historically and personally; Spirit has pervaded the author's life, and the historical world, long before the author became aware of it. Perhaps, that was his lesson to learn. Seller Inventory # AAV9781452059570

About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2015. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. Words--the tuneless (or not so tuneless) song of a moment, the instantaneous image and emotion that slides into your soul at any given point in time--has been poet Doug Hodges's path throughout his whole life. He has always had the desire to listen, observe, think, question, formulate, and finally share the conclusions his mind, heart, and soul had reached. Unbecoming Roads, Hodges's fourth collection of poems, consists largely of newer poems featuring a number of illustrations, both literary and visual, from the web of his life. It also includes excerpts from the poetry chain he created with poet Joan Juskie and collaborative works with poet D. Everett Newell. Through these verses, Hodges seeks to share what he sees and experiences, using the words that dance on his heart to reach others. I do not I do not want to protest? merely I want to flow. the difficulty lies in politely listening to words that grate, moving over rocky situations not of one's choice, trying to find harmony in disturbing currents. About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This will be my third collection of poems. However, poetry flows throughout all my volumes. To me, 'poetry' is a way of communication and it is diverse, overlapping prose, overlapping music . sad to publishers and those who would put creativity in a niche, I feel life as a great woven tapestry of creation . from a distance, maybe distinctions may be made; up close, all is a part of one, flowing this way and that . here a gentle stream, here a rushing river, here a great sea which, itself, may be calm or tempest-tossed. Yet, water is water. With A Certain Wide-Eyed Look is largely composed of newer poems, caught up in the mind and events of the day, with some quick flash-backs to times and writings gone by. For I, still, am no less a product of my past even as I am recreated with each new day. People and images abide, herein, which have touched my life. Readers, who know me, possibly will know these, as well; readers, to whom my writings are new, will possibly recognize these folk as well, even if by different names. For as new as are all ideas, images, personalities, there is a familiarity among the body of man and along the plain of existence and time, which is a common thread woven deep throughout us all. About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2013. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. The most any Author can hope for, is imparting part of themselves with their words . The most any of us, the readers, hope for, is an escape from the moment . When this happens, true magic is made. Doug Hodges . weaves his magical world from his experiences, beliefs in life and mother earth . Doug is on a life quest . Like the majority of people, he is a work unfinished, what sets him apart, he knows this. He remains in contact with his spiritual guides . and . together they take us away . While most of us are afraid to be different, Doug wears this skin comfortably. He allows all of us to think, wonder, and dares us to change the paradigms of our individuality . About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2007. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. Three coinciding incidents led directly to the publication of Flock of Dogs. I was perusing my first volume of poetry when I realized that not a one of my historical poems had been included. My Aunt Mary in California passed away on the morning after her 95 birthday. I was led on an incredible photographic journey into Mexico. Thus, with an introspective mind, through kaleidoscopic eyes, moving along my Spirit-guided path, and from the mouth of my Grandaughter Gwendolyn, comes this continuance of my life and times. May these poems jar a few memories, elicit chuckles, bring pause, and above all entertain. Seller Inventory # AAV9781434331892

About this Item: AUTHORHOUSE, United States, 2006. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. Whether you are continuing your journey with me via these Spirit Animal Tales or whether you missed my first volume, The Voice of Coyote, and are leaping unwarned into this spiritual realm, I welcome you. These are tales that 'I' have been blessed with, passed to me from various Spirit Animals, mainly Coyote. They are filtered through 'my' experiences; people, places, things, and incidences that brought me to where I am today. There is no conscious effort on my part to accurately recreate any person, place, thing, or incident. If anyone has a button or two pushed, that's probably meant to be. That said, the path lies before and may you enjoy. Peace! This one is for my beloved companion and wife, Linda for Uncle Ike, and for the ever-wandering WhiteDog Doug Hodges. Seller Inventory # LIE9781452059570
