Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Large 8vo. (25 cm.) [2]iiixvi, 1-264p. Frontispiece half-tone illustration plus 80 figures, most are black and white captioned photos, but there are several full-page half-tone plates. Extensive and detailed table of contents functions as the Index per author's instruction. Blue pebble cloth blocked in blind and with the logo of the F.A. Davis Company in blind on the front cover. Gilt letters and decorations on the spine. Covers heavily water stained but with no interior damage, both hinges cracked, all illustrations present per the List of Illustrations and in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no other internal markings. Title page has the following: Illustrated with 67 Full-Page Half-tone and Colored Plates, Including nearly 100 Figures. I am not sure how these were counted, as the List of Illustrations includes the Frontispiece and 80 figures. There are numerous other drawings besides those listed, so perhaps the additional drawings are taken into account in the counting. Beaman Douglass was Professor of Diseases of the Nose and Throat in the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital.
