About this Item: Verlag von R. Oldenbourg, Munchen und Leipzig, Germany, 1893. Hardcover. Condition: Good. VOM GOLDNEN HORN ZU DEN QUELLEN DES EUPHRAT - Reisebriefe, Tagebuchblätter und Studien über die Asiatische Türkei und die Anatolische Bahn, von DR. EDMUND NAUMANN. (FROM THE GOLDEN HORN TO THE SOURCE OF EUPHRATES - Travel Correspondence, Diaries and Studies of ASIAN TURKEY and the ANATOLIAN TRAIN, by DR. EDMUND NAUMANN). Verlag von R. OLDENBOURG, 1893, MÜNCHEN und LEIPZIG, Germany. Hardcover book, cloth covered boards, illustration on front cover, 8.5" x 11.5", XV + 494 pages. TEXT IN GERMAN. Includes 140 mostly b&w in-text ILLUSTRATIONS, plus a FOLD-OPEN, COLOR MAP at the rear. An account of a six month journey through Anatolia / Asian Turkey, from Constantinople to Angora, Kharput, Diarbekir, Erzerum and Trapezunt. As a geologist who had already accomplished important work in Japan, Naumann was asked to undertake a reconnaissance of the land through which the Anatolia Railway was to run. GOOD MINUS condition, the spine covering is splitting along both the front and rear folds, the front edge of the rear cover is worn / frayed / scraped through for several inches, the front cover illustration is rubbed, the front and rear boards have some scrapes, and the cover corners are bumped, nonetheless the covers are original and still rather sturdy; internally, there is the signature of "Paul & Marthe Henge (or Henze?)" and the date "9 April 1958" on the front free endpaper, the rear hinge is cracked but holding, the pages are lightly toned, especially at the margins, otherwise the pages are tight, bright, clean and unmarked, and the fold-open map is solid, bright and clear. A complete, original, worn but still presentable copy of this early exploration of ANATOLIA TURKEY. Seller Inventory # 000224
