The five stories are told in rhyme and have full-page and in-text b/w illustrations.The spine strip is mottled with faded spots. The front board has scrapes and stains, mostly in the margins. If there was a half-title page, it is missing. About a fourth of the pages have one or more stains on the bottom margins. The hinges have been repaired. The front edge of the back board is a little short of overlapping the text block's foredge. Scans e-mailed upon request.

Moderate wear and rubbing to extremities. Text-block is loose from binding, with many loose pages and attendant edge-wear. There is significant loss to one colour illustration, but no loss to text. A few pages have closed tears. Rear endpaper is lost. A damaged (or well-used) example of the scarce Canadian issue of the first edition, with cancel title-page with the Toronto imprint. Interesting thus, and still readable, with all the entertaining colour prints and line illustrations. 180p. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.

(Roosevelt loathed to be called "Teddy" to his face and the nickname was studiously avoided by family, friends, and aquaintances, but author Eaton claimed in the foreword, "Since the name 'Roosevelt' has been used in the title, it may be of public interest to know that President Roosevelt and his boys have been pleased with the story as it has appeared in serial form.".

Content: 18 stories; 15 plates of color illustrations; full-page and in-text, b/w illustrations. The spine strip, including the title, and the back board are faded. A 4 in. split on the spine strip is rejoined with cloth on the reverse side. Nearly half of the paper is chipped from the boards' edges and along the edges. An inch is missing from one board corner. A linear 2 in. piece of board is missing from a corner. A corner has a crack that is rejoined with glue. Three page margins each have a small chip. Ten percent of the page margins each have one or more closed tears. Two pages each have a closed tear that runs through the margin and through a little of the text. They are tipped back together with glue. The pages have a moderate, musty odor. Pictures e-mailed upon request.
