Potter was born in Vilna, Russia 1882, emigrated alone to Boston, USA in 1897, graduated with honors at MIT 1903 in engineering, Dean of Purdue's engineering schools for 33 years. Potter was a genius who wanted to be like Benjamin Franklin. He played the Ocarina from 8 years old, loved literature, and wrote in French, German, Russian & English. Other famous Purdue Engineering faculty include Amelia Earhart and Lillian Gilbreth, wife of Frank Gilbreth. Gilbreth's two children of their 12 wrote the book, "Cheaper by the Dozen". Lillian worked at Purdue under Dean Potter. Frank was originally a brick layer, conducted studies of time-and-motion theory.
