No Jacket. 5-5/8" x 8-3/4", xxxv + 507pp. Printed on off white alkaline paper and bound in sewn signatures in brown leatherette buckram boards with title block stamped in gilt on front panel and spine. Minor shelf wear, edge wear to cover. Some spots of foxing on the top edge of the book block. Binding is cocked backward, possibly from awkward storage, but remains tight. Pages are clean and bright and unmarked.

"It is my intention, by the aid and assistance of God, to devote the introductory pages of this narrative to such accounts as I have been able to obtain regarding those twin great lights, Shayk Ahmad-i-Ahsa'i and Siyyid Kázim-i-Rashti, after which it is my hope to recount, in their chronological order, the chief events that have happened since the year '60 (1260 A.H. or 1844 A.D.), the year that witnessed the declaration of the Faith by the Báb, until the present time, the year 1305 A.H. (1887-88 A.D.) In certain instances I shall go into some detail, in others I shall content myself with a brief summary of events. I shall place on record a description of the episodes I myself have witnessed, as well as those that have been reported to me by trustworthy and recognized informants, specifying in every case their names and standing." Light rubbing to extremities. Interior with library blind-stamp and some markings in pen and pencil on the title page. Library ink stamp on the verso of the title page. Rear decorative endpaper and interior front cover, with label residue, and library sticker and pocket pasted on, respectively. Other than the said library markings, the book is in pristine condition with a tight binding. Binding in very good-, interior in very good+ condition overall.
