In decorative contemporary red cloth, gilt titles & tooling, beveled edges, corners & edges a little worn, some cloth tears to front & rear. Spine, edges marked & worn, gilt titles & tooling. Internally, [6], [1], 2-302 pp, [6] notes, tp code indicates that the printers were, Sir Ivor Brertie Guest (Lord Wimborne), Lady Charlotte Schreiber (formerly Guest), Miss Enid Guest (Lady Laynard), Miss Constance Guest and Miss Blanche Guest, green end endpapers, contemporary ink ms note stating 'Printed at Camford Manor by Enid Guest, Constance Guest, Blanche Guest', a.e.g., lower corner cloth glued. Canford House also printed for some famous authors, including Tennyson, but the printings were in small numbers and always rare! The Press operated from 1861-1876 and the Golden Dragon was its first substantial offering. COPAC show copies at Oxford, BL & V&A, however cannot find a copy sold at auction since 1955! Very rare.
