Hardcover. Condition: Poor. 516pp + 4 plates (missing the map of Arabia). A reading copy only. Both boards detached and part of spine missing. Starts with fold-out plate of Mecca, the rest of content still well bound together and interior in nice clean condition. The 3 plates usually bound in at rear are loose and appear to have had part of margins trimmed but are all good and clean and in original folds. Some notes on verso of Mecca plate. 9 x 6 inch. Weighs 1kg. A new edition, with a memoir of the translator, and with various readings and illustrative notes from Savary's version of the Koran.

NOTE this volume does NOT contain the Preliminary Discourse of george Sale or the Memoir of the Translator which must be in the first volume. 535 pages including tables. Attractive light brown leather to spine, hinges & corners, mainly intricate maroon marbling to boards & end-papers. Spine is cross-banded having thin gilt embellishment lines, gilt titles to block title-plate, surface rubbing/light surface scuffs to spine surface, coss-banding & title plate, some wear with rubs to spine-ends. Darkening of leather to hinges giving an aged patina to appearace, rubbing to leather of corenrs with top surface rubbed away in small places, wear through to card at corners. Marbling is rubbed whit in small patches to boards, wear to edges. Heavy foxing/blotching to rear of flyleaf, free end-papers whic has in name on it, & to rear free end-papers. Page-edges fall well & neatly in line together, bindign very sound. Text has occasional small finger-mark & small blotch, but is generally very celan & in nice condition with a light/moderate wave to pages.
