Image of a prospector stamped in gold on cover. Slight rubbing and shelf wear, mostly to head and tail of spine. Gold dust jacket with black and red lettering on cover and spine. Jacket is wrapped in mylar and is in fair condition only. Corners of flaps are clipped, but price is still visible. Significant chipping, tearing, and creasing to edges and folds; large chunk missing where front panel meets spine; some scuffing and scratching. Tight binding and clean interior. Text block has a faded top stain and a deckle fore-edge. Features 84 black-and-white illustrations, including a frontispiece, as well as nine maps. This book chronicles the gold mines and miners of the American frontier, detailing bizarre stories and eccentric characters from California to Alaska and many places in between.
