In fair/poor pictorial boards with coloured battle scene to front and green cloth spine with dark titles. The boards are loose from the page block, rips in the spine cloth and muslin exposed at top end; edge-worn. Lightly marked end papers featuring humorous scenes of soldiers. Tanned cut edges. The text block is a little wobbly, pages well used; slightly tanned Prelims and most page edges. The Prelims and up to page 32 is loose from tail edge. There are 'four double page and seven other coloured plates and over three hundred illustrations'. Some of the colour plates are loose or detached. Vertical tear on half title page and facing page and name of previous owner and brief address on half title page. Fair condition. A good reading copy Issued without jacket.
