Publishing information also printed on the back at top. Postcard is unused. Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight age toning on the back and a crease affecting the lower-left corner of the image. A Very Good copy. This postcard shows the Parliament Buildings in Victoria, British Columbia. Gowen & Stevens was a photography studio founded in 1916 by Frank Gowen and Sidney Stevens of Vancouver, B.C. From 1919-1920, the studio operated as the Frank Gowen Company. Alfred Sutton had been a shareholder and business partner in the Frank Gowen Company and continued to do so when the studio was renamed the Gowen Sutton Company in 1920. In 1930, Gowen sold his shares to Sutton. The Gowen Sutton Company kept its name after Gowen left, and the studio remained in business until 1987.

This postcard shows Castle Mountain in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Castle Mountain is part of the Canadian Rockies. Postcard is very clean and intact except for slight age toning and a few tiny spots on the back and a small spot on the image. A Very Good copy. This postcard shows three women, a man, and a child standing on the Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver, British Columbia. The bridge was built in 1889 by George Grant Mackay, a Scott civil engineer and Vancouver park commissioner. The bridge has since undergone renovations and is now part of the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park which is still open to this day. Gowen & Stevens was a photography studio founded in 1916 by Frank Gowen and Sidney Stevens of Vancouver, B.C. From 1919-1920, the studio operated as the Frank Gowen Company. Alfred Sutton had been a shareholder and business partner in the Frank Gowen Company and continued to do so when the studio was renamed the Gowen Sutton Company in 1920. No Binding. Condition: VG+. Real photo postcard of the Sterwheeler, 'Nasookin' on Kootenay Lake. This vessel was the largest and grandest of the many sternwheelers sailing in British Columbia. Built in 1913 - retired in 1947. Oddly, this ship is incorrectly identified at the 'Kuskanook', a slightly small sister ship, by the publishers on the front, image side of the card. Part of the superstructure was salvaged and made into a House, located in Nelson, B. C. Undated time of issue - probably 1920s - 1930s. Unused reverse. Photograph. Image of international fraudster, an Italian-American born Edgardo Laplante, who travelled the world as a Chief White Elk, seducing women and living off the generousity of others. He was, however, remarkably effective at selling war bonds during the First World War. This image shows him in full Indian-style regalia with his hands raised in the air, perhaps making some sort of blessing. Fine. Postally unused.

One photo has some minor striations in the upper left corner (perhaps from being bent a little to far back), other photos in fine condition, card case lightly soiled and with two repaired separations at the upper corners of the window, else near fine to fine with no marks. Photos include the following: Canadian Pacific Railway Co.'s Docks; Centotaph and Victory Square; City Hall; Aerial View--Business Section; Part of the Waterfront; North and West Vancouver Ferry Docks; Entrance to Stanley Park; Lion;s Gate Bridge (the one showing a little damage); Capilano River and Kions; and Alexander Park. Three postally unused c. 1930's gelatin silver prints of Princeton, B.C. with two offering interesting aerial birds-eye views of the downtown area and one a view of Tulameen River. All three cards w. undivided backs and credited "Gowen, Sutton Co. Ltd." verso, all measuring 3-1/2 inches tall x 5-1/2 inches wide (n.b. 2 prints are 5-3/8 inches wide) and individually titled in negative "Bridge Street, Princeton, B.C." , "Tulameen River, Princeton, B.C." and "Princeton, B.C." One card w. light soil verso, else all cards fine and unmarked. Uncommon, early images of Princeton, B.C. with one bird's-eye view having been taken in Winter with snow on the surrounding hills and the other bird's-eye view being taken in Summer, showing low water on the Tulameen River, the Merritt-Princeton Highway bridge over the Tulemeen River, many vehicles of the day and various business signage clearly visible along the main street.
RPPC. Condition: Fine. Three c. 1920s postally unused RPPCs of the Kettle Valley Railway by Gowen Sutton Ltd. One is sepia toned and has "Canyon Creek Trestle" written in negative near the lower edge, the other two are hand-colored B&W cards w. "Canyon Creek Trestle #2." and "Along the Kettle Valley Railway #5." in decal negative. The #5 card has a faint crease near lower right corner and the sepia card is somewhat toned, else cards are Fine. It is interesting to note that in the Canyon Creek Trestle cards, a gent can be seen on the bridge, seemingly playing "Chicken" with approaching CPR steam engine No. 3269.
