Seller: GREAT PACIFIC BOOKS, Ventura, CA, U.S.A.
Hard Back / Embossed Titles. Condition: Fair / Good. Some b/w Illustrations (illustrator). Red cloth embossed hardback bound book, with decorated titles. Book is in fair to good condition, its more of decorative appeal and weird thoughts on marriage and marital relations. The book has a gutter crack at the title page, title page is loose, and preface page is loose, table of contents is missing and and book begins on page 15 about Marriage, about its relivence among various cultures, and what is expected of women and men when they marry. A brutal man verses the gentle one, frequency of sexual relations, cravings, separate beds as a form of birth control. There is a very interesting chapter on prostitution as a fact and practical result of the body's function, it also discusses how various religious groups feel about it. Also included are midwifery, duties of married life, common diseases and their treatments. One of the most interesting thing about this book is the archaic advertisements in the back, several pages, that offer such things as Morphine, Turkish bath cabinet, wrinkle creams, sexual looking thing called a syringe for women, a suspensory cup for men, tape worm treatments, nerve medicine called Neuron, and others. 173 pages, minus the first 12 that are missing. Bizarre and archiac to the modern reader interested in outdated medical and factual references to health, medicine and sexual encounters between men and women. Old fashioned marriage book. As is, as found. Pages are Honey Colored / Aged. Antique book. Book.
