Bernhard Haurwitz [1905-1986] was a German-born meteorologist and physicist who received his doctorate from the University of Leipzig in Meteorology and Geophysics in 1927. He was Chair of the Department of Meterology in New York University, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of the Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal.
