Written by Van Campen Heilner, an American sportsman and avid hunter and fisherman.A fascinating memoir of Heilner's time salt water fishing in America.The first edition of this work.Containing three illustrated plates in colour, and twenty-one plates in black-and-white. Illustrations are based off paintings by Frank Stick and photography by the author. Collated and complete.This was the personal copy of fishing enthusiast and former Brighton police officer, Jack Reece, noted by his bookplate to the front pastedown. Not only was Reece an avid shark fisherman, he also happened to be head of Brighton's CID at the time of the IRA bombing of the Brighton Grand Hotel in 1984. Reece's police force was responsible for the capture of Patrick Magee, the perpetrator of the bombing, and collection of vital evidence that helped convict him. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with just minor shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. A few creases to the spine. Bookplate of Jack Reece to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.

Overall, this is a solid, Good only copy.
