First Edition
First Edition. First Printing. Octavo; black cloth, with titling and rule stamped in yellow and red on spine; dustjacket; 245pp. A few pinpoint rubs at spine ends, with a hint of offset to front endpaper, else Fine. Dustjacket is price-clipped, with a few pinpoint rubs to extremities and two tiny tears along upper edge of front wrapper; very Near Fine - about the best we've seen for this title. Perhaps the best of the author's late-career novels, and certainly one of the most difficult to find in collectors condition. A typically unforgiving jacket in terms of showing wear poorly, this example is almost entirely unrubbed, and still retains the gloss on the uncoated paper.
