Book
Soft cover. Condition: As New. No Jacket. Illustrated by John Burningham (illustrator). No creases; an as-new, unread, movie tie-in mass market paperback from Scholastic Book Services, with an image from the United Artists film in color to front wrap. Famously author Fleming's only known children's book (unless you want to get snooty about the Bond novels being targeted to "emotional adolescents.") Originally priced $1.50. Number line 19 18 17 16 15 14 13, only -- presumably the 13th printing -- followed by the printed notation 01/8. Copyright 1964, but the Ken Hughes film (scripted by Roald Dahl!, with gadgets by Rowland Emett) was released in 1968, and this book bears a proper ISBN, which would argue for a print date of 1970 or later. Pages moderately age-toned to edges. 159 pp. Reduced from $60.

"Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car is a children's novel written by Ian Fleming for his son Caspar, with illustrations by John Burningham. It was initially published in three volumes, the first of which was released on 22 October 1964 by Jonathan Cape in London. Fleming, better known as the creator of James Bond, took his inspiration for the subject from a series of aero-engined racing cars called "Chitty Bang Bang", built by Count Louis Zborowski in the early 1920s at Higham Park. Fleming had known Higham Park as a guest of its later owner, Walter Wigham, chairman of Robert Fleming & Co. Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang was loosely adapted as a 1968 film of the same name.".
