Vol. 1:xxxix, 344pp. - Vol. 2: viii, 312pp. Very good copies, untrimmed in the original publishers printed wraps. Neat engraved booksellers label (Langues etrangeres vivantes Bobee et Hingray, Libraries, Paris) stuck onto the front free endpaper of volume one. Edges untrimmed. Some creasing to the corners and minor loss to the paper on the bottom of the spines but overall a very good copy and uncommon in the original paper wraps.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Illustrated by Maxfield Parish. Very good first edition book, no dust jacket. Gray paper covered boards with tan cloth covered spine. Paste-down by Maxfield Parish on front panel, gold lettering on spine. Upper page edges are gilt. Boards are soiled and a bit scuffed overall, some small stains around the edges. Spine is heavily spotted. Edges at head and tail of board spine are softened and creased. Several rubbed through or scraped places on upper and lower board edges and fore-edge edges including fore-edge corner tips. A few minimal smudges on internal pages else book is internally clean. Several inside pages are uncut. All Parish illustrations are in fine condition. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition description.
