    This Knight's Cross-winning Luftwaffe ace was a night fighter, recording 34 victories in more than 200 missions. PS, 3½" X 5", n.p., n.y., Fine. Modern reproduction of a WW2-era black and white snapshot of Johnen in uniform and wearing his Knight's Cross emerging from his plane's cockpit. In a light area along the top he has rubberstamped in blue "Mit dem Fliegergruss / 'Hals- und Beinbruch'" (With the flyer's greeting "break a leg," approximately), and in a light area at lower right he signs and inscribes in black ballpoint: "Wm Johnen / Hpmn. & Kdr. / [illegible] / III.N.J.G. 6." With original envelope, addressed in Johnen's hand.
