Contemporary diced calf, the back strip divided into four compartments by wide raised bands, gilt floral ornament to first and last compartments, titling and volume numbers gilded direct to back strip in second and third compartments, bands of gilt floral ornament to head and foot of back strip and to raised bands. Double gilt filets to boards with third filet of floral ornament in blind. Frontispiece and folded map to vol. 1. (2)+455pp: (1)+429pp: (1)+446pp: (1)+476pp. The heraldic bookkplate of the author Richard Hughes to front pastedown of each volume. Some chipping to head caps of vols 3 & 4, some rubbing to back strips and extremities.
