"Sutrakritanga is the second Anga among the Jaina canonical literature and popularly known as a guide for young monks. This Sutra is mainly to fortify the initiated monks against the heretical opinions of alien teachers, to confirm them in the right faith and to lead them to the highest good and ethical values. Besides the refutation of heretical doctrines, this Sutra concentrates in what manner a monk is supposed to lead a holy life overcoming the difficulties specially the various temptations thrown in his way, the punishment of the unholy and the praise of Tathagata Mahavira as the standard of righteousness. This is basically a handy reference book on Sramana culture. Sutrakritanga was translated into English by Prof. Hermann Jacobi originally from Prakrit language and edited and published by Prof. F. Max Muller during the last decade of the nineteenth century, under the Sacred books of the east series. Since then this publication has gained world wide fame.".

The present publication Eminent Women Administrators contains brief biographical sketches of nearly 50 powerful women rulers empresses or queens of the world besides modern age presidents and prime ministers ministers chief ministers diplomats etc. concerned directly or indirectly with governance or administration in a wider sense. While the queens belonged to the Royal families of monarchs and easily got top positions as their hereditary rights or due to their marriages in the ruling families or dynasties but in the changed circumstances mostly democratic set up the enlightened and educated women politicians are being elected as presidents prime ministers members in the parliament and assemblies. Some of them even rule because of their selections in the bureaucracy or judiciary purely on merit. In the modern day democratic societies and in the socialist countries women are getting fair chances and being elevated as presidents and prime ministers in their respective countries. Now the concept of administrators and rulers from feudal and aristocratic families is fading. England is still keeping her limited monarchy and the aristocracy is still alive so also many Arab countries have kings and kingdoms. India Nepal Japan and China too have been famous for kings and queens for long. The text aims to be an informative and enjoyable source of reading for all. 268 pp.

Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Some important Jaina Sutras in Prakrit language were translated into English by Prof. Hermann Jacobi a learned scholar of the west. His translation of Jaina Sutras created a profound influence and interest amongst western scholars towards Jainism one of the oldest religions of India. These Sutras originally were edited and published by Prof. (Dr.) F. Max Muller the renowned Sanskrit scholar and Indologist at Oxford a century ago. The present publication contains the translated version of Uttaradhayana Sutra one of the early sacred canonical writings of the Jainas. This work consisting of 36 sections is a compilation of various texts belonging to different periods. It contains admonitions to pupils explanations of four most precious things of Karman and sins etc. Jacobi has rightly pointed out that its main stress and intention is to instruct a young monk in his principle duties to commend to him the ascetic life by precepts and examples and to warn him against the dangers to be faced in his religious life. It is hoped this publication will be welcomed by the scholars researchers and general readers interested in the Jaina religion and philosophy. 248 pp.

These Sutras originally were edited and published by Prof. (Dr.). F. Max Muller the renowned Sanskrit scholar and Indologist at Oxford a century age. The present publication includes two translated works from Prakrit Acharanga and Kalpa Sutra. Acharanga Sutra is the first of the eleven Angas and Kalpa Sutra is an Upanga which show the early stage of the development of Jainology when the tradition of the four Jinas was cherished by the Jaina community. Acharanga (Acaranga) the first Jaina Anga contains important conduct rules for the Jaina monks and Jaina nuns. The text is a mixture of both prose and verse and the sermons contained in it consist mainly of exhortations and warnings to the young monks besides ascetic decorum and religious etiquettes to be followed by them. Kalpa Sutra is a great authority and is always read publicly during Varsavas (Chaturmas) and Pajjusan. Its major portion is devoted to the biographical references of the four Jinas including Mahavira. The English translation of the Jaina Sutras are widely read throughout the world to understand the Jaina religion and philosophy. 333 pp.

The present study Sant Kabir Life and Philosophy is a unique research publication on the life and teachings of this mystic poet. Today Kabir's eternal Vani and writings are studied in the Indian Universities Europe Russia and America etc. Kabir the Nirguna Bhakti poet of medieval period made a deeper impact on Hindu society. Virtually after the decline of Buddhism in a predominantly Non Muslim country like India the Barbaric Arabs the Turks and Islamic hill tribes created chaos and attempted to influence the social religious life of the country but the powerful Bhakti Movement under the stewardship of Kabir put a break further on Islamization though orthodox Islam and liberal Sufism have already made their grounds on Indian soil. At this critical juncture Kabir the people's philosopher and social reformer synthesized the non Brahminical and non Islamic culture and spoke on a wider range of current themes and problems including mysticism social evils religious reforms communal harmony co existence universalism and brotherhood besides the ultimate truth of life the nirvana and union with the almighty. Fearlessly he attacked the Hindu priestcraft and Islamic way of worship and vehemently condemned the ritualism the untouchability and the caste system which had weakened the society. Kabir is more relevant even today. This study will no doubt prove to be an interesting reading on the life and philosophy of this great mystic poet philosopher and social reformer. 350 pp.
