This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Sim Kessel, der junge Franzose, Jude und Berufsboxer, schrieb 1969 seine Autobiographie über die Jahre 1940-45. Er beschrieb, wie er gegen jede Wahrscheinlichkeit in Auschwitz und anderen Konzentrations- und Vernichtungslagern des NS-Regimes überlebte. 1940 trat er unmittelbar nach seiner Demobilisierung als Soldat der französischen Widerstandsbewegung gegen die deutsche Besatzung Frankreichs, der Résistance, bei. Zwei Jahre später wurde er von der Gestapo verhaftet. Trotz Folter gestand er nichts von seiner Untergrundarbeit. Als Jude wurde er nach Drancy bei Paris überführt, dort inhaftiert und in der Folge in das Konzentrationslager Auschwitz deportiert. Unter den entsetzlichen Bedingungen der nationalsozialistischen Vernichtungslager, als Nummer 130 665, entlud er in Birkenau Baumaterial und arbeitete in den Minen von Jawarzno. Völlig ausgelaugt und krank rettete ihn ein schlichter bürokratischer Irrtum ein erstes Mal vor der Gaskammer. Im Jahr 1943 versuchte die Lager-Gestapo neuerlich, ihm ein Geständnis seiner Widerstandsaktivitäten abzupressen. Er wurde gefoltert, man riß ihm einen Finger aus. Ein zweites Mal wurde er vor der Gaskammer gerettet, diesmal von einem SS-Mann, der auch Boxer war. Paris war seit drei Monaten befreit, als er zu fliehen versuchte. Die Flucht misslang, er wurde vor 25.000 Deportierten gehängt. Das Seil riß. Das bedeutete Ermordung durch Nackenschuss. Aber der Henker, der ihn erschießen sollte, war ebenfalls ein Boxer und rettete ihn in letzter Minute. Am 18. Januar 1945 wurde Auschwitz evakuiert. Es folgte der Todesmarsch, in Tagesetappen von dreißig bis vierzig Kilometern, dreizehn Tage lang, ins KZ Mauthausen, dann ins Lager Gusen 2. Am Morgen des 7. Mai 1945 waren die Deportierten plötzlich allein im verlassenen Lager, die Deutschen waren vor der US-Armee geflohen. 256 pp. Deutsch.
