Franfurti ad Moenum, 1843, 4°, 39, (1) pp., 4 gefalt. lith. Foliotafeln, Leinenband der Zeit; aus dem Nachlass von August Knoblauch feines Exemplar. Erstdruck - Beiliegend eine original Bleistiftzeichnung wohl aus der Hand des Autors, bezeichnet "Ein mit Neuromen . Nervus Libialis mit gleichzeitiger Elephantiasis des Unterschenkels. (Heidelb. Klin. Annal., Bd. II)." Alexander Knoblauch, "geb. zu Frankfurt am Main 3. September 1820, promovierte zu Heidelberg 1842, wurde 1843 Arzt, 1852 med. Mitglied des Pflegeamts des Hospitals zum heiligen Geist, welche Stelle er bis 1876 bekleidete. 1851 wurde er 2., 1852 1. Bibliothekar der Vereinigten Senckenbergischen Bibliothek und legte 1854 diese Stelle nieder, als er zum Arzt an dem Rochusspital (für Krätze, Blattern und Syphilis) ernannt wurde. Über seine Thätigkeit an dieser Anstalt hat er in den vom ärztl. Verein zu Frankfurt herausgegebenen Jahresberichten über das Medizinalwesen etc. der Stadt Frankfurt seit 1859 Bericht erstattet, über die syphilitische Abteilung insbesondere auch seit 1857 in Behrend's Syphilidologie (Neue Folge.) Im III. Bd. dieses Werkes hat er auch eine Abhandlung: "Ueber den heutigen Stand der Frage von der Entstehung der erblichen Lustseuche" publiziert. 1867 erschien von ihm, als Manuskript gedruckt: "Das Rochusspital und seine Beziehungen zur Frankfurter Bürger- und Einwohnerschaft", mit wichtigen statistischen Mitteilungen über die Krankenzahl. Seitdem das Rochusspital beseitigt und 1884 durch das städt. Krankenhaus ersetzt worden ist, wurde Knoblauch zum Chefarzt desselben ernannt, in welcher Stellung er bis zu seiner 1894 erfolgten Pensionierung verblieben ist. 1885 wurde er zum Kgl. Preuss. Sanitätsrat ernannt. Knoblauch feierte 1892 sein 50jähr. Doktorjubiläum und starb 3. April 1899." Pagel, Biograph. Lex., Sp.871-872.
