Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. (1944), 218pp. Lightly worn, previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, else VG. The author, Margaret Rosemary Norris Kutak, (1905-1999), was born in Anderson, Indiana and lived in Louisville, Kentucky, where her husband taught at the University. She wrote two murder mysteries in the 1940s which were well received, this being the first. From the publisher's notes: "The ghost of a woman whose living body haunts her former husband and his second wife, her adoring brother, her friends - is brought back to life by a miracle of modern science. Eve Minary's dark fragile beauty concealed a twisted mind - concealed too, dangerous knowledge. With an extraordinary tensity of brooding horror, the story moved rapidly to Murder; and young Doctor Marc Castleman has to act fast to save his professional reputation.".
