Handsome ochre boards with attractive duotone drawing and gilt tiles to front board and spine. Spine ends are bumped but intact. Corners are sharp. The prelims beginning with the flyleaf and ending with list of illustrations has become detached from the text block although it is complete. Gift inscription to the flyleaf dated 1905. Foxing to the half title. Monochrome frontispiece with tissue guard which has a small hole. Seven illustrations in text by S.T. Dadd. Fore edge a little grubby. The hinge has weakened at the prelims but rest is firmly bound. Attractive boards make this a handsome and relatively scarce title.
