First Edition
Presumed first edition (no direct statement but with matching dates upon title and copyright pages). 96 pages. Paperback: H 28cm x L 21.5cm. Purple paper covers rubbed with some scuffs; mild sunning/fading to spine with light vertical crease. Light toning to text block edges. Seven-line ink inscription from Mel and Gasper Schiro to book's past owner (unnamed in the inscription but acquired from Congressman Robert Livingston) on the half-title page (i.e. page 1); interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. This 1977 edition is quite uncommon and Pelican Publishing issued at least three other printings of the book in 1989, 1994, and 2003. Laid-in between front cover verso and opposing half-title is a folded sheet of United States Representative Robert L. Livingston's congressional office stationery evidencing the book's provenance. Republican Bob Livingston served as U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 1st District from 1977 to 1999 and chaired the House Appropriations Committee from 1995 to 1999 as well as being House Speaker-designate before his resignation from office.
