Book First Edition
1st Edition, 1st Impression. No.70 in the Hamilton "Ace Series". 12 x 19cm, red cloth boards with black titles to the spine, 224pp, with 4 black and white plates. Original unclipped dust jacket priced at 3s 6d. The boards are in very good condition with a hint of rubbing at each fore edge corner, a little pushing & creasing to the spine ends and very light dust marking along the top edges. Internally, there is no name inscription or bookplate and the pages are generally very clean with only the occasional spot. The binding is very firm and square and has a few light spots on the fore edge of the text block. The dust jacket has some general age soiling, most noticeably to the rear panel. There is a little surface erosion, creasing and tiny chips along the bottom edge and a little rubbing to the bottom 3cm of the upper fore edge. A very presentable copy of this relatively scarce Ace Series book. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Stanley Orton Bradshaw (illustrator). 1st Edition. London, John Hamilton, n.d. [1938 BL]. First Edition. First Impression. An uncommon book by a prolific author. One can only assume, given the number of titles Lindsay had published that the print runs were fairly sizeable at one point. However, given the relative rarity, they weren't perhaps retained for future generations! A respectable copy, very good overall. Jacket is intact with some heavy rubbing to the folds at the spine and edges, one large tear to rear spine fold, mostly closed but there's a couple of mil of the boards showing through. Shorter tear to front edge, corners worn also. Spine tips nibbled. Book in decent shape with some bumping and toning to the spine tips, corresponding to the jacket. Owner's name on front endpaper in pencil. Cover art by Stanley Orton Bradshaw [5988, Hyraxia Books]. n.d. [1938 BL].
