Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A Veteran of The War of The Rebellion. Civil War book. Lockwood re-enlisted after the war and also served in the U.S. West. Pictorial cloth sewn to spine in three places. Cover showing drummer boy standing by the flag pole in an encampment. Has serious faults. Front cover has some splotches of a yellowish-green paint (?) and a pencil or pen marking. Both front and back covers are quite dirty and show corner wear. Spine has some discoloration with very top of spine missing and very bottom extremely worn. Inside cover and title page show considerable childish scribbling and markings in both blue and lead pencil. Inside back cover also has a few wavy doodles. Spine is separating from gathered pages and first gathering (Title page to page 16) is totally loose from stitching. Offered because of its rarity.
