Book
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. 4th Edition. This was the first of five juvenile baseball fiction books that Mary Bonner wrote. The publisher would not use her first name, fearful that a baseball book written by a woman would not sell. Here young boys grow together as they play baseball during the summer. Has nice illustrations by Howard Butler on the front cover and throughout the book. Ex-library with normal markings, the book is in fair condition. I have around 300 juvenile baseball fiction books and more than 85 baseball titles written by and about woman and girls in baseball. Seller: Old Book Surfer, Cambridge, NY, U.S.A.
Book Club edition. 8vo. 215 pgs. This is the Book Club edition ("Real Books" Boys Club series) of the Doubleday book of the same name. It is sort of a youth/popular treatment of crime solving methods, and uses cute artwork of its period to show various crime-stopping scenes. It has some basic history of early police formation and evolution. Most suitable for adolescent audiences, and likely now out of date in many respects. Very good condition in slightly worn dust jacket. Hardcover in unclipped pictorial jacket, lightly chipped at spine ends.
