Hardcover. Condition: Poor. 1902 edition. New and Enlarged, this is volume 3 only. Ex-library book with lots of stamps and pocket and marks and numbers. Fairly well worn but still sound. Moderate or more shelf wear on the boards, edge and corner wear about moderate, a couple of old paint spots on the boards. For the most part, the text is pretty clean with only a rare mark or smudge. Bit of lean to the spine from storage.

Hardcover. Octavo, xiii, 640 pages. In Fair plus condition with a Very Good slipcase. Spine is off white with no text. Slipcase has some scuffing with a library identification sticker. Boards have shelf wear, bumping to corners, major rubbing, and some tearing along the spine edges. Text block has several pages loose from the binding, pen/marker writing on the front paste down, and binding is shaken. Ex-Library. NOTE: Shelved in Room A. 1372958. Special Collections.

Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. First edition of this history of American Privateers (legitimized Pirates) and dedicated Theodore Roosevelt, Pioneer of the Modern School of Naval Writers. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with elaborate copper plate design on front and gilded lettering to the front and spine. Corners and head/tails of spine gently rubbed. One mark on spine, one bump along long front edge. Top edge gilded, long and lower edges rough cut. Yellow endpapers. Advertisement on half-title verso, splitting along gutter. Otherwise internally clean and clear with light toning at the outer edges of the paper. Filled with illustrations and copies of older documents/broadsides.
