This Polish-born American writer penned a tsunami of sea stories and maritime tales for the pulps and such large-circulation magazines as "Argosy," "Collier's" and "The Saturday Evening Post," along with wave after wave of nautical novels such as "Ecola!" (1928), "Wind Driven" (1930), "Three Went Armed" (1933), "Sea Duty and Other Stories of Naval Action" (1944), "The Sea and the Shore" (1946), "Andromeda" (1947) and "The Edge of Chaos" (1969). TNS, 1p, 7" X 9¼", n.p., 3 March 1939. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Near fine. Two faint horizontal folds. Brief, cordial early note thanking an admirer and noting, "I am pleased that you enjoyed my book, 'The Golden Medallion' so much." Boldly signed. Marmur autograph material is rather uncommon.
