MARRON, Eugenie. Caught in the Act. N.pl.: n.p., [1948]. First Edition. Pp. [65], unpaginated, on heavy stock. With thirty full page illustrations by the author. 4to, blue cloth, red titles and illustration to front. A collection of amusing caricatures of a number of the author's acquaintances, who, for the most part, are shown enjoying a spot of deep-sea fishing. Ten of the thirty drawings are linked to the tuna fishing grounds off the coast of Wedgeport, NS, long known for its popularity with deep-sea fishing enthusiasts. Eugenie Marron, herself an avid angler, was a holder of four world records in the sport. With tongue-in-cheek references to the participants and their efforts to land a prize fish. "There's nothing so deflating to a chunk of egotistic humanity as a frank and forceful caricature."- from the preface. This edition is limited to 250 copies, this being no. 99. With a note type-written on the author's stationery, paper-clipped to the ffep, which reads "Here she is - hot off the griddle! This first edition is limited to only 250 copies, numbered and signed. Each copy is priced at $5.00 to cover the expense of the edition. If you would like additional copies, let me know as I am getting out another edition immediately." And then in the author's hand "With My Compliments, Eugenie". It is noted that a large "X" has been drawn through the text of the note. It is to be noted that the text below the final drawing is offsetting, giving a very blurry image of the words. The drawing is fine. Some browning to the spine and along the edges, light wear to the corners, small mark from the paper-clip to the front paste-down and first blank along the top edge, else a very nice copy. 350.00.
