Cloth rubbed, some shelfwear, front inner hinge just starting, else very good. Inscription of front endpaper, "Feb. 1897. Purchased from Author, J.H. Mathes. Presented to Mrs. President Wm. McKinley, Washington City. D.C., Mar. 5th 1897 by James Arlington Loudon (of Memphis, Ten.)." This was the day after McKinley's inauguration. This volume consists of the same sheets of the first edition published in 1897 together with an additional 148 pages containing 107 more Confederate veterans printed in 1899.
