Massive regimental history of this Zouave unit, raised in western Pennsylvania, that served in the major campaigns of the Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War. The 155th is included in Fox's 300 "Fighting Regiments" of the Union Army. Original blue blind-stamped cloth with elaborate gilt title, borders, image of Zouave soldier and red Fifth Corps badge. Gilt title and corps badge on spine. Moderately edgeworn and rubbed with heavier wear to head and base of spine and corners. Binding slightly shaken but firm. Previous owner's name and bookplate inside front board. Early library marks on preface page, evidence of removed pocket part, and small faded mark on base of spine. Large black marks to exterior fore-edge and lower pages. Light toning to pages. Contents clean and very good with color and black and white illustrations and maps, some fold-outs.

Condition: Acceptable. Spine rolled, split rear pastedown, hinges visible and binding shaken but still solid, pages lightly toned but crisp and clean, no markings found but a few spill spots and fingerprints noted. Some creased page corners. Fly page and title illustration page have small tears and a little hole, a bit of foxing noted on a few pages. Protective title page tissue is torn and chipped but also intact. Blue covers with gold gilt that's bright and shiny with some darkening, light scuffs, rubs, and dents, Extremities bumped and softened with small rubs and fray. Might have missed a few flaws but this should be the majority. Photos avail on request. No expedited or international shipping, oversize.
