Illustrations in blues and grays, cover: added greens. Audience: Children/juvenile. RARE. First appeared in Child Life Magazine; copyright renewed 1951 by Rand McNally, assigned to Abington Press. /Ve Elizabeth Cady, illustrator. (illustrator). CONDITION: Very Good Plus in Good jacket; no names, comb binding perfect, sharp corners, clean, lightly darkened pages, light rubs on back edge, possible bubble spots on top board margin, toned strip on one page where flap has been used to keep the place, in bright, clean jacket with light rubs on creases and spine ends, damage to top back edge, obtrusive small sticker shadow and 2" darkened closed tear to front, tide marks seen on dw inside spine but nothing on dw outside or on book. Picture book hardcover. With the help of his niece, Molly Ann and the love of his favorite pet bubble Eliza, Mister Wubble blows beautiful bubbles for the children all day long. The bubbles mean well, but they bounce a lot and long to fly free, so Peter Potter, who is good at clumping, sits heavily on the roof to keep it closed: what happens when the bubbles escape, carrying Mister Wubble and Peter with them, and how Molly Ann invents bubbles with wings. Merryman, the poet Mildred Plew, wrote four children's books and many stories and poems for children's magazines. Without the relentlessly whimsical tone of some 20's books, this is a happy, playful story with believable characters and charming Deco illustration. The earlier G. Volland book came in a box, this spiral bound with jacket is unusual. ABE Heritage Seller, since 1996: Search ABE Keyword: oldchildrensbooks.
