The pages are somewhat rippled & the versos of the pages of gray stock are darkened. The rear endpaper is darkened & there is offsetting to the front endpaper from the bookplate on the front pastedown. Good. Mounted on the front pastedown is the bookplate of Emily Wheelock, the sister of poet John Hall Wheelock.

The top edge gilding is considerable rubbed, but clean; fore- and bottom text-block edges are toned , else clean. / BINDING - the book, having been read more than once, the text-block is not as tight as when issued, the leaves opening widely and the text-block being slightly shaken, however no leaves are detached or loose, the whole remaining fairly solid. / INTERIOR - The end-papers are foxed; there is light scattered foxing and spotting throughout, as well as a few small smudges, but basically the interior is clean and presentable, with no writing or marginalia.
