Condition: Very Good. ff 188 Bound typescript of Miskin's novel inspired by Andreyev's short story, covered in proof corrections and with typographical instructions and double page spreads on tracing paper showing the layouts for the half title, title page, chapter headings and sample text page, annotated 'Specimen pages for Willmer Brothers Ltd for Weidenfeld & Nicolson Limited' with exact dimensions given and dated by hand, October, 1968. An additional page printed on yellow foolscap of 'Setting Instructions for printers' has been annotated, presumably by Willmer Brothers, regarding their ability to conform to the Weidenfeld style guide. The typed text is corrected to every page, most on matter of spelling and punctuation but also with substantive changes to the text. Accompanying the typescript a paperback copy of the published book with an obituary of Lionel Miskin laid in. Born in Cannes, Miskin was 'well known in literary and artistic circles in the West country', heading up art history at Falmouth Art School. Very much of its time, this 'brilliant novel of erotic intensity' centres on the exploits of an English girl and her boyfriend caught up with three escaped convicts hitchhiking to the south of France.
