First Edition
Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine (see description). Dust Jacket Condition: Good (see description). Text Cover (illustrator). First Edition. ------------( 1st printing of the First Edition ) ---hardcover, red cloth, a Near Fine example, red cloth is very clean and tidy, book is completely square, pale red tinting to the upper edge of the textblock is lightly rubbed but still quite bright and tidy, no writing in the book, ---this copy measures about 197 mm x 133 mm x 30 mm which differs from the reprint printed circa 1940 ( about 209 x 139 x 37 ) ---as well this has the ruled line on the copyright page------------in a lovely Good/Very Good text design dustjacket with some shallow chipping and a few closed tears, a wee bit of age toning to the spine of the jacket (and I do mean wee), ---a sticker has been placed over the price on the front flap but careful examination with a bright light reveals a 1.50 price tag, ---rare in any dustjacket, this is the less common jacket with text only of the more often seen pictorial dustjacket edition, the Lechowick bibliography states that there is one recorded copy of this title in this text design dustjacket but I know of at least 2 other copies and of course one has to assume that there are other copies out there burrowed away in some little hidey-hole, --------------------no definitive priority has been established but it seems to me that this text design jacket takes priority with the pictorial dj therefore a 2nd issue (not a 2nd printing but a 2nd issue ) ------the photo jacket lists (on the rear flap ) Bot, the Wanderings of a Dog by marshall Saunders which was released in 1936, the text jacket rear flap does not list BOY, the book being from 1934 suggests to me that the photo jacket has to be the later issue--- all dustjacketed copies are quite rare, --- a very scarce book but especially so in dustjacket, ---------contents include: The Maid of France: Joan of Arc; The Angel of the Crimea: Florence Nightingale; The Great White Ma: Mary Slessor of Calabar; A Brave Deed: Laura Secord; Happiness in a Log Cabin: Catharine Parr Traill; A Noble Girl Queen: Queen Victoria; Courage in Danger: Madeleine De Vercheres; From Darkness to Light: Helen Keller; A Friend of the School: Ada May Courtice; The Golden Chrysanthemum: Caroline MacDonald; A Loyal Pioneer of the West: Elizabeth Louise Mair; Caring for Indians: Anna J Gaudin; A War Heroine: Edith Cavell; Braving the White North: Sadie Stringer; Canada's Queen of Song: Madame Albani; The Princess of the Paddle: ( Tekakionwake ) E Pauline Johnson; A Leader in Education: Aletta Elise Marty; A Pupil at School: Dr Margaret MacKellar; A Daughter of the Empire: Margaret Polson Murray; Service for Others: Lady Tilley; Champion of Dumb Animals: Marshall Saunders --- An order from outside of the US or Canada cannot be accepted due to the impossibility of satisfying the necessary export requirements and documentation ---apologies for this, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)--- Size: See Description.
