Scholarly textual analysis of the first part of Dante's Italian and Catholic masterpiece "The Divine Comedy", "The Inferno" written in 14th century Florence. There is significant scholarly attention afforded to The Divine Comedy as a whole, particularly the manuscript tradition, but the critical Italian text provided is only The Inferno itself. As is frequently noted, Dante was influenced by Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas and medieval scholastic thought in this famous poem. Text in original Italian with critical apparatus in English. Numerous folding plates in the appendices. Author of "Time-References in the Divina Commedia" and numerous other works on Dante.
