Inscribed by the author on the verso of the front endpaper in 1962 and with the recipient's bookplate just above the inscription; laid in is page two of a 1974 autograph letter, signed by the author, and with a few manuscript additions, to the recipient, concerning a remainder of the book he had acquired from the printer, trips he made to reassess the census, and other matters. A few white paint spots on upper portion of spine, else very good. Gilt-stamped decorated red leather, top edge gilt, by Donnelley, publisher's slipcase. (9568).
