Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Ambeth Ocampo's historical research and reportage are solid, but happily aimed at the non=academic, general reader. He makes history popular, understandable, and close to real life, as it should be, so that it may help the Filipino understand the way they were -- and thus the way they will be. For enriching awareness and appreciation of Philippine history, by presenting little-known facts, shedding new light on well-known facts, and underscoring the continuing relevance of the past. **The book has light foxing.**.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Art Editors: Allan Joseph L. Larona, Criston Van C. Manasan and Julian M. Canero (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Hardcover in Slipcase. How rare is this book? Once listed, it will be the Only copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. And it is in exceptional condition. Take a look at the photos. This book was built to last, clearly produced with much respect. It has an extremely solid feel. The covers are in nearly perfect shape. There is a small thin crease just below the front top right-hand corner, and another little one at the bottom edge of the spine. The covers are, as you can see, very clean. The corners look terrific. The edges too (with just one small shallow dent at the front bottom edge). The page edges are perfectly clean. This heavy book is square (the spine is straight) and very solidly bound from cover to cover very nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers. There are no binding issues. The inside covers and end papers, a beautiful textured red, are perfectly clean and free of wear. That fairly describes the condition of all the pages in the book. I've scrolled through them a good number of times without finding any instances of soiling. They are very bright. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. I feel confident saying that the interior of the book looks exactly the way it did the day it was produced. Likely the major reason for the superior condition of the book is the fact that it fits snugly into a very solid illustrated cardboard slipcase that encloses and protects the entire book. The slipcase is perfectly clean and has the same solidity that it had when it was produced. It has one cosmetic imperfection. It took a bump at the top edge of the spine and just to the right of that on its front side. As a result there is a crease there. That is the only wear on the slipcase. This book was produced 'In Celebration Of 100 Years Of A Medical College (1905- 2005), 100 Years Of A Hospital (1907-2007, 100 Years Of A University (1908-2008), and 75 Years Of Brotherhood (1933-2008).' There is a separate sheet of paper that fits into a red flap on the front inside cover. It states: 'You now own this humble offering of the Mu Sigma Phi to the centennials of our revered institutions. This is a pictorial narrative of how an oppressive colonizer changed its tact upon realizing the ardent aspirations of the natives by providing them the ultimate foundation for their eventual freedom-- education. This book retells the evolution of our Alma Mater according to the resolute vision of a man and how friendship made the establishment of the institutions a reality. This work chronicles the early life of our forebears and how they endured to establish our Alma Mater as a center of excellence. This book pays tribute to a group of young men, our founding brothers, whose aspirations to become compleat medical students motivated them to create the first medical fraternity in the country. This book follows the timeline of our brotherhood and shows how it is changed the medical landscape of the country and the world. This book became a reality through the hard work of members of the Mu Sigma Phi who took up the challenge to leave a token legacy for the 75th Anniversary of the Fraternity. It took all of two years of zealous research to collect materials from our University Library, Medical Library, and University Archives to present long forgotten images of our significant past. Our research brought us to library archives across another continent where many documents pertaining to the evolution of our Alma Mater have been fortunately preserved. This book presents many never before seen pictures and fragmented facts that have been ignored for numerous decades. Carefully piecing them together created the story of our lives-- our "A Priori" which would hopefully inspire the younger generations to strive best for their future-- their "Ad Infinitium.' Note that the weight of the book (6 1/2 pounds unpacked) means a very high overseas shipping cost.
