Hardcover. Condition: vg. Revised. Signed on title page by the editor-in-Chief of the Translation team, Harry Orlinsky: A Reform Jew, he participated in a number of major translations of the Bible, including the Revised Standard Version, the New Revised Standard Version, and the New Jewish Publication Society translation. In 1969, he wrote a set of notes on his translation of the Pentateuch and his theory of translation which provide a fascinating insight to his thought process. Small 4to. 123pp. Followed by three (empty) pages for notes and one page listing translation team. Black cloth with gold lettering on front cover and spine. Translation of the Book of Genesis, the first Book of the Hebrew Bible, into English. Chapter headings in Hebrew, according to "Parashat ha-Shavua" [weekly Bible portion read in synagogues].
