2 SS. 8vo. An eine namentlich nicht genannte Adressatin über die bevorstehende Anhörung des Generals Charles Antoine Morand in Strassburg, für dessen Belange sich Oudinot stets interessiert habe. Morand sei während der Herrschaft der Hundert Tage für die Adressatin "perfekt" gewesen wäre, und es gelte nun ihm zu helfen gälte: "Mon amie, le Gl. comte Morand est à Strasbourg pour y faire reviser un jugement rendu contre lui; tu sais à quel dégré je lui ai toujours accordé de l'intérêt, il a d'ailleurs eté parfait pour toi dans les cent jours; ces considerations doivent diriger nos conciences et nous porter à lui être utile dans une circonstance où l'honneur commande". Oudinot fordert sie auf, nach Strassburg zu reisen und als Vermittlerin zwischen Morand und den Richtern aufzutreten; er rät ihr dem Anstand gemäß reserviert mit diesen umzugehen, jedoch hervorzuheben, dass sie in der Sache eines Generals, der in seinem Leben nur einen einzigen Fehler begangen habe, der ihm nun als Verbrechen angelastet werde, auftrete, und erwähnt, dass er in dieser Sache auch an Prinz Hohenlohe schreiben werde: "Ainsi rends toi à Strasbourg, vois le non seulement et fais relais près des juges qu'il t'appartient de rencontrer, tous ses droits a nos sentiments; je n'ai pas besoin de te recommander d'y mettre de la réserve sous les rapports de convenance avec des juges; mais honore toi en traittent la cause d'un Gl. qui n'a dans sa vie commis qu'une fautte, que les méchants imputtent à crime [.] J'écris au prince Hohenlohe [d. i. Ludwig Aloysius, Fürst von Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Bartenstein] et je fais de maniere a leur faire comprendre l'intérêt que le patient nous inspire [.]". - Wegen seiner Unterstützung Napoleons während der Herrschaft der Hundert Tage musste Morand ins Exil nach Polen und wurde 1816 in La Rochelle in Abwesenheit zum Tode verurteilt. König Ludwig XVIII. erlaubte ihm schließlich 1819 nach Frankreich zurückzukehren, und am 5. Juni wurde er vom Kriegsrat in Straßburg begnadigt.

Esemplare in buone condizioni, in barbe, parzialmente intonso; bruniture rade e macchiette dovute al tipo di carta. CCFr censisce variante di 114 pp, con titolo leggermente diverso: "Journal historique des op?rations de l'arm?e d'Italie command?e par le g?n?ral en chef Brune, depuis le 27 frimaire an IX jusqu'au 26 niv?se inclusivement. Au quartier g?n?ral ? Tr?vise, le 27 niv?se an IX. Oudinot, g?n?ral de division, chef de l'?tat-major-g?n?ral, au ministre de la guerre". Oudinot, Nicholas-Charles, duca di Reggio (1767-1847), Maresciallo di Francia, generale di divisione, capo di stato maggiore, ? l'A. di questo diario delle operazioni dell'armata d'Italia nel 1801, destinato al ministro della guerra. L'Italia tiene uno spazio capitale nei progetti napoleonici. La politica italiana del grande C?rso mira a ripartire e modificare amministrativamente in modo totalmente nuovo, i territori occupati. Nel periodo interessato dalla presente opera, il generale aveva appena servito con distinzione sulla frontiera tedesca sotto Hoche, Pichegru e Moreau, era stato ripetutamente ferito e nel 1795 fatto prigioniero. Fu il braccio destro di Mass?na durante la campagna svizzera del 1799, e in seguito alla difesa di Genova e alla battaglia di Mozambano dove venne lodato personalmente da Bonaparte. Carico di onori e di vittorie, redige questo memoriale dei fatti d'arme del periodo indicato, in stile asciutto ed incisivo, corredati da puntuali indicazioni toponomastiche e cronologiche, e da continue esemplificazioni tattiche e strategiche da cui traspare la maestria del combattente. Documentazione fondamentale per lo studio delle campagne napoleoniche in Lombardia e Veneto. Esemplari censiti in CCFr, quattro copie in SBN.

Très importante et intéressante lettre à un haut responsable piémontais à Turin, probablement un personnage de l?importance de Vittorio Colli de Felizzano (1787-1856), homme politique et militaire important du royaume de Sardaigne alors en poste à Turin. Dans cette très longue lettre, il regrette de ne pouvoir donner les renseignements demandés, mentionne le « moral des troupes autrichiennes [qui] doit être fortement ébranlé par les événements survenus dans la mère patrie » sans pour autant penser que les piémontais puissent en profiter. Il pense que « l?armée de Charles-Albert » a besoin d?alliés, « l?intervention française ne serait pas moins utile à mon Pays qu?au vôtre ; je la désire donc ; je souhaite ardemment que l?alliance de nos gouvernements se consolide de plus en plus ». Il précise aussi avoir envoyé un officier pour recueillir les renseignements de son correspondant. Très beau document autour de la formation de l?Italie. [304-2].
