  • Seller image for THE FIRST FUNCTIONING BRAIN | ORGASM THEORY | VELOCITY | SCIENCE [Five texts]; Intelligence Creation | A Major Breakthrough in Science for sale by Alta-Glamour Inc.

Five texts, approximately 56 pp. total, printed from spirit duplication (ditto machine). Illustrated with symbolic equations, graphs amd charts. Papin studied English, then physics at the University of Washington, finding the physics department too limiting. The work presented here is an eccentric mix of science, poetry, and biology -- the influences of Einstein and Wilhelm Reich are apparent. Papin offers mathematical proofs as well as poems and literary references to supplement his theories, and these can develop (or degenerate, take your pick) into a kind of symbolic drawing. One of the stranger collections to pass across this cataloguer's desk, and a pretty fascinating example of alternative / otherstream thought and imagination. Contains: THE FIRST FUNCTIONING BRAIN. Two editions. 13 pp (plus cover), 10 + ix pp. The latter has a notepaper-clipped to it, '1. Mathematical Biophysics Bioenergetics. 2. The Calculus of Related Algebraic Variables. Two copies are presented to show variations / developments in the author's thought. "In the evening of July 17, 1961, at Washington Bay, Alaska, I wrote down Einstein's basic formula of mass energy equivalence E=MC2 and trying to find a relation between this formula and emotion I pondered the question, "to the square of the speed of light." [ .] Time seems to be a continuous series of squares of the speed of light, one times the other." Contain a list and synopsis of Papin's Theories (Orgasm, Creation, Time, Fourth Dimension, Unity, Mystery, Space, Emotion, etc.). Hand-written dedication to Norman H. Roberts, a University of Washington physicist. Papers are in an envelope bearing Dr. Roberts' address at UW's Applied Physics Lab. ORGASM THEORY (1964) 10pp. "The square of Light is the physical orgasm." VELOCITY 10 pp. Begins with Dylan Thomas' poem, "The Force That through the Green Fuse Drives the Flower," followed by Papin's rewrite / response to it. With other poems: "Albert Einstein," "Theatre of Mind" and lists; "Hieroglyphic Symbols" SCIENCE 4pp. A sort of manifesto, with 33 theses and essay. No dates on any of the papers; note clipped to Orgasm Theory dated 1964. Papin had two books published by the Vantage Press, New York: The Mathematics of Sex, and Sex, Symbolism, and the Bible. Text printed from ditto machine, stapled in corner. Minor wear. Housed in manila envelope. Very good.
