Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. photographs (illustrator). 1st Edition. Red hardcover cloth binding with gilt decoration clean square and tight. Minor foxing. 274 pages with index. Last few pages of index uncut - page 269-272 and 273 through two blank endpages would need to be slit along edge to separate but I have left as is. Dustjacket is soiled, tears along edges, interesting that the front dj flap does not tell about this book but is a description of a book called The Happy Pilgrimage by Corra Harris. Back flap describes The Heart of Emerson's Journals edited by Bliss Perry. Not price-clipped. According to front of dj under title: "Mr. Payne, President of the Boston Branch of the Dickens Fellowship, has gathered together from many sources new material about the two memorable visits of Dickens to Boston - first as a fascinating youth and twenty-five years later as a more famous but no less attractive personality. His record of fifty-nine days and nights in Dickens's life combines complete authenticity with the vividness and charm of fiction." Scarce in dustjacket.
