Color Pictorial Boards. Condition: Very Good. Phipps, Mary (illustrator). First Edition. (Black Interest) LIZA JANE AND THE KINKIES written and illustrated by Mary Phipps. New York: J. H. Sears and Company, Inc., 1929. First edition. 4to - 8-1/16" x 10-15/16". Black cloth backed color pictorial boards with light soiling and wear to the corners and edges for what remains a nice copy of the book. The text of the book is hand-written and there are black, red and white illustrations on every page. The story follows a day in the life of Liza Jane Lee and tells of the adventures she has, the highlight of which is her meeting and befriending a group of black fairies called the Kinkies. There is a book plate on the front paste-down and the "belongs to" box is filled in with the book owner's name and the name of the people who gave it to her. The binding is the slightest bit shaky but all signatures and binding are intact. Additionally, one page is a bit proud and it has a few very short marginal tears and a tiny chip on the top edge because of it. This copy is quite special because it has A WONDERFUL ORIGINAL DRAWING OF LIZA JANE ALONG WITH AN INSCRIBED PRESENTATION DATED NOVEMBER 2, 1929 BY THE BOOK'S AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR, MARY PHIPPS. Although not a perfect copy, this book is still firmly of collectible condition and the inclusion of the signed drawing/presentation makes it quite special indeed. The condition of this book is VERY GOOD. Signed by Author/Illustrator.
