This unusual book consists of French-language descriptions of 32 flowers of legend, one per numbered page, each with an accompanying page bearing the same number and a color reproduction of the spirit of the flower, as visualized by one of five artists. All the pages are unbound, but arranged in 16 folios each describing two flowers, plus a title folio and a final contents folio. All the pages are contained in hard covers w gilt titling and decorative motif. A rare and lovely book with gorgeous full-page reproductions. 8-1/2 x 11, 62 pp, 32 full-page color reproductions. VeryGood overall. The boards are in Near Fine condition, clean with bright gilt, with a 1/2-in closed tear at lower spine. Contents are also excellent, with all reproductions bright and crisp. The original glassine dust jacket (Fair, with edge chips and browned overall) is included but no longer pasted to the boards, and the flaps that originally enclosed the folios within the boards are detached but included. The last folio with table of contents and copyright page has one small closed puncture - not a chip. Hardcover in white pebbled boards, with 18 unbound 18 folios, worn glassine printed jacket.
