Lawrence Clark Powell, a legendary librarian and founding dean of UCLA's School of Library Science (1960) was the son of Harold G. Powell - an early California Agricultural advocate, most importantly the pomologist with the USDA's Bureau of Plant Industry. This book contains a series of letters written by Powell during the years 1904 and 1909 discussing the difficulty with transporting fresh/perishable crops by railroad. Illustrated. Pristine copy.
